Movie making in virtual worlds is known as Machinima. This is a wonderful example! Winner of the 2011 University of Western Australia, 'Open This End Award of Excellence in Directing'. Sorry, I couldn't resist adding this! It makes me laugh every time I see it. Hilarious and, sadly, too often true. A MUST WATCH! *Disclaimer: All characters appearing in this work are fictitious. Any resemblance to real persons or avatars, living or dead, is purely coincidental. So if it resembles you a little too closely, don't blame us! haha Seems there's at least one genuine SL-made millionaire out there. Pity it aint me! haha Take a look here! Trying to do something in SL but don't know how? Well, the easiest way to learn is to have someone show you. There's a huge range of SL video tutorials available. The ones on SL's web site can be browsed by category or you can use a search term. They range from basic stuff for noobs, through to more advanced info for hard core long-timers. You'll need to login to access these.
Alternatively, you can google videos for whatever it is you want to learn. Just make sure you include 'SL' or 'Second Life' in your google search. Natalia Zelmanov (bit of a mouth-full that name!) has a fantastic Blog about SL called Mermaid Diaries. When I was a newbie I referred to it often but it's worth reading even if you have been in SL a while.
It's full of interesting and helpful information on many SL topics like: - Getting Started in SL Guide - Building tutorials and techniques - Dating - Places to see, and - LOTS more! The intrepid Rachael Livadi has been exploring Second Life and has Journaled her experiences. One of the first places she came across was Daydream Island. Here's where you will find her pics and posts about us, along with many other fantastic SL locations! http://rachellivadi.blogspot.com/2010/07/day-2-journey-to-daydream-island.html Lori Novo on Daydream Island in Second Life Wooohooo! Lori found Daydream Island and added pics to her Flickr Photostream. Take a peek here!
There are a few other Daydream shots in her album too. Can you find them? We've been listed on Bletaverse. Click here to see!
I'm so excited everyone! Daydream Island is now featured on SL's Destination Guide. So what's the big deal? This is how Second Life's Wiki describes the Guide ... The Destination Guide highlights some of the best in-world locations and resident creations. For new and existing Residents alike, this is the place to go to explore and discover what's most exciting in Second Life. Venues and content featured in the Destination Guide are not paid placements and we keep the listings fresh with regular updates, so check back frequently! In other words, it's not easy to get listed. You need to be 'discovered' and then deemed to be one of the best. And Daydreamers we have been chosen. Wooohoo! To view Daydream Island's listing on the Destination Guide click here. I added a comment on the page that all Daydreamers should read. Feel free to add your own too! :) |
